Carpet Cleaning Tips – How to Remove Pet Stains

It's inevitable. Your favorite furry friend will definitely leave a stain on your carpet. It does not matter because you still love him anyway. But how in the heck do you get the stain and smell out of your carpet? Read on and learn about some quick ways to help you remove stains-whether or not they're from your pet.

Remove Vomit, Urine, and Feces

How should you handle these kinds of pet stains? First, use some towels to clean off the majority of the vomit. Next, use a clean towel to blot the stained area. Make a cleaning solution by combining a cup of lukewarm water and ¼ teaspoon of a mild washing detergent. Apply the solution to the affected area and blot with a clean towel. Repeat until the stain is gone.

After this, make another cleaning solution by mixing of two cups of lukewarm water and a cup of white vinegar. Apply this to the stained area and blot using your towel. Then use lukewarm water to rinse the solution from the fibers of the carpet. Let it dry naturally for a while then use a shop vac to get rid of the other damp spots. Since the solution has vinegar, there will be a sour odor on your carpet. But this can easily be removed by applying baking soda and leaving it overnight.

Think that this is only for vomit? Not really. You can also use this to clean up urine and feces stains. Keep in mind, however, that you will also need some hydrogen peroxide to finish up the job. For urine stains, use products that have absorbent granules. Once this has been done, apply a product that contains enzymes or live bacteria. These eat up all the bad bacteria that can cause your carpet to stink up the living room or any other part of your house.

How NOT to Clean Your Carpet

There are right ways to clean the carpet and there are wrong ways. For one thing, most people think that using soap and water to clean their carpet stains will do the trick. That's not true and you may just end up with a nasty stain that will never go away. This goes for perfumed sprays or regular run-of-the-mill household cleaners. Follow these steps and you're sure to have a worry and hassle-free carpet cleaning experience.

And if all else fails, make sure to call a carpet cleaning company to help out. With their expertise, you're sure to have a clean carpet in no time at all.
